Description

Cygnum, an Irish off site construction company is to create 150 new jobs as it opens an €8 million extension to its manufacturing facility in Macroom, Co Cork.

The expansion is driven by strong growth in demand for timber frame and modular construction in Ireland, which has been identified as one of the fastest-growing building methods in the new homes market. Increased housing demand and a growing shift towards timber frame construction, supported by government data, underpin the investment. The new investment will raise annual production capacity from around 1,400 to 2,500 housing units.

Public representatives welcomed the development. Local and national political figures, including Cork-based councillor and TD, publicly praised the expansion and job creation and attended the official opening of the new facility.

Founded in 1997, Cygnum is one of the largest timber frame manufacturers in Ireland. The company currently employs approximately 90 people.
