European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The Italian toy manufacturing and retail group Giochi Preziosi has announced a restructuring process affecting over 300 employees working in around 30 retail outlets and at the company’s headquarters in Italy. This comes amid ongoing and planned store closures. The restructuring involves at least eight interconnected companies and is linked to a broader business crisis.
Job losses have already occurred as a result of store closures, and further reductions in employment are likely in the coming months. However, no detailed information has been provided on the specific redundancy measures to be implemented or the number of redundancies to date.
Trade unions Filcams CGIL, Fisascat CISL and UILTuCS have reacted by declaring a national state of agitation. They are calling for transparency, a comprehensive industrial plan and measures to safeguard employment and income levels. They have also requested an urgent meeting with the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy to discuss the situation.
