Description
The European financial services group, Société Générale, is cutting 1,800 jobs through the non-replacement of retiring staff and by encouraging internal mobility. This will affect several sectors at the headquarters, as well as the regional structure of retail banking. The agency network, however, will not be impacted. The CGT trade union has criticised the group's policy, describing it as making irreversible decisions without engaging in social dialogue.
In France, Société Générale has a total workforce of 40,000 individuals in France.
Several large-scale restructurings have been recorded in the ERM database, including the cut of 900 employees at the headquarters in 2024 Société Générale 2024 - FR.
