Description
Valmet, a Finnish company operating in the biomaterial solutions and services sector, announced a planned restructuring that will result in the loss of up to 355 jobs across its production sites.
In Sweden, in Sundsvall and Gothenburg a total of 225 jobs will be loss: Valmet 2026 - SE, and 100 in Jelenia Góra in Poland.
The changes are intended to strengthen the company’s competitiveness and improve the efficiency of its global production network in response to a volatile world economy and the resulting hesitation in customer investment decisions. The company is negotiating with employee representatives in both countries, and the full effect of the cost savings is expected by early 2027.
Valmet supplies processes and equipment for process industries. It has about 1,700 employees in Sweden, of which around 500 work in Sundsvall. In Poland a total of 550 are employed by the company, of which 300 in Jelenia Góra. Globally, the company employs approximately 18,500 people.
In the last couple of years, the company has announced and undergone several restructuring programmes, most recently in 2025 in Finland, Sweden and other locations Valmet 2025-WO.
