Description
The Ingka Group, the largest franchisee and operator of Swedish furniture retailer Ikea, announced the loss of 800 office‑based jobs across its group at the group level, mainly in Sweden [Ikea 2026 - SE]( https://apps.eurofound.europa.eu/restructuring-events/detail/204445 and the Netherlands.
In addition, IKEA Sweden is planning further job reductions that could affect around 145 roles, while IKEA Norway had previously announced cuts of 50–60 head office roles as part of a separate reorganisation.
The restructuring aims to streamline the organisation, reduce complexity and accelerate decision‑making, according to Ingka CEO Juvencio Maeztu, while supporting growth and price reductions for customers.
The group employs 166,000 people worldwide across the three arms Ikea Retail, Ingka Centres and Inka Investments of which the Ikea Retail arm comprises the largest share.
