Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The window manufacturer UAB Aradas has begun construction of a new plastic window and door factory in Alytus. Upon completion, the factory is expected to employ approximately 145 workers in two shifts. The new facility is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
The new factory is being build in proximity to an already existing Aradas factory that employs a further 88 workers. The company has been operating in Alytus for 17 years. The company’s expansion has been planned for several years, and the decision to build a second factory specifically in Alytus was influenced by the location of the first factory and the investment conditions.
The company’s entire staff is based in Alytus. Moreover, the municipality is providing the company with a plot of land free of charge and offering full support. The company exports about 90% of its production to Scandinavia, Germany, the Netherlands, and elsewhere.
