Description
Melexis, an automotive supplier, has announced that it will cut around 60 jobs equivalent to around a quarter of its employees at its Erfurt site. The job reductions are part of a strategic realignment plan presented by the company on 12 February 2026.
According to management, the decision is driven by declining sales and the resulting need to refocus operations. Going forward, the plant will concentrate on a single core area instead of two. The site will primarily handle the testing of circuits that are later used in chip production.
The job cuts are outlined in a social plan agreed with the works council at the end of 2025.
The Erfurt location employs 250 people. Melexis develops and supplies semiconductor solutions and employs roughly 2,000 people worldwide.
