Description
Stellantis, a multinational automotive manufacturer, has announced 305 voluntary job cuts at its Stellantis Europe plant in Atessa, Abruzzo, Italy. A further 180 job cuts will be made at the Turin (Piedmont) and Termoli (Molise) sites by 2026, with 121 and 60 jobs respectively being lost.
The restructuring will be implemented through voluntary exits and early retirement schemes with specific financial packages for different age groups, alongside continued use of social shock absorbers.
The restructuring is driven by a combination of industrial underutilisation, technological transition, market competition and production relocation. The unions are demanding a comprehensive plan, particularly regarding the production of electrified and hydrogen vans in Atessa, and the full utilisation of the EDCT gearbox line in Termoli.
