Description
Jelcz, the Polish defense manufacturer and subsidiary of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), has announced that it will create about 500 new jobs at its production facility in Racibórz, Poland.
The branch is located at the site of the former Rafako boiler plant, and Jelcz intends to purchase five modernized halls from the Rafako bankruptcy trustee. Rafako bankrupted in early 2025, and 700 people lost their jobs (Rafako 2025-PL . Now, Jelcz is specifically targeting former Rafako workers, especially seeking turners, locksmiths, CNC machine operators, technologists, designers, and assembly line workers.
Trial welding operations began in late 2025 with an initial group of several dozen employees. Full production capacity is expected to be reached by late 2026 or early 2027. The Racibórz site will serve as one of two major satellite branches for Jelcz (the other being in Sanok), supporting its primary headquarters in Jelcz-Laskowice.
The expansion is necessary to fulfill 15 contracts with the Armament Agency, which require the delivery of military trucks and specialized cabins for systems such as rocket launchers and radars.
