Description

French manufacturer of small domestic appliances, SEB, which includes the German company WMF, has announced that it will stop production at its plants in Hayingen and Riedlingen (Baden‑Württemberg) as well as in Diez (Rhineland‑Palatinate). A total of 250 employees will be affected.

The shutdown of these production lines is part of a broader restructuring plan under which up to 2,100 jobs may be cut worldwide SEB 2026 - WO. In the German‑speaking region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) up to 600 positions are expected to be eliminated.

The job reductions are intended to be carried out in a socially responsible manner through voluntary departures and natural attrition by the end of 2027. According to the company, the job cuts are necessary in order to reduce costs and maintain competitiveness. The company claims to move production to existing plans, for the brand "Silit" it may be moved to Asia.

SEB employs around 4,400 people in the German‑speaking region and approximately 30,000 employees worldwide.
