Description
De Jong, a Dutch manufacturer of stainless steel hot water storage systems, operating in the industrial equipment sector, has announced the creation of approximately 450 jobs by the end of the year at its new production plant in Prešov, eastern Slovakia.
The investment relates to the establishment of a large-scale manufacturing facility with planned annual output of up to one million stainless steel water tanks, with recruitment to be phased in line with the gradual ramp-up of production.
Employment growth will be implemented progressively as the facility reaches operational capacity, with potential indirect employment effects anticipated among local suppliers and service providers.
The project forms part of the company’s European expansion strategy and involves capital expenditure exceeding €60 million. The new positions are expected to include mainly permanent full-time jobs in production, technical operations, maintenance, logistics and administrative support functions.
Regional and local authorities have welcomed the investment, highlighting its expected contribution to employment stability and economic development in the Prešov region, which has historically recorded higher unemployment levels compared to western Slovakia.
De Jong operates internationally in the production of stainless steel hot water storage solutions for heat pumps and renewable heating systems. The new plant in Prešov is described as the largest and most modern facility of its kind within the company’s network and strengthens Slovakia’s position in manufacturing linked to Renewable Energy & Clean Tech.
