Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Sage, the multinational provider of management software for SMEs and accounting firms, has inaugurated its new global innovation hub in Barcelona’s 22@ district, employing more than 650 professionals from over 40 nationalities. The 3,600-square-metre centre consolidates Barcelona’s position as a European technology hub and strengthens Sage’s strategic commitment to Spain.
A significant share of the workforce specialises in data science, engineering, artificial intelligence development and cybersecurity, making the facility a key driver of innovation for the company worldwide. The hub is Sage’s third global centre, alongside Newcastle (UK) and Atlanta (USA), and will play a central role in advancing AI-driven solutions to enhance productivity and decision-making for clients.
Sage plans to expand the Barcelona workforce by around 10% annually, reinforcing its collaboration with universities and its role as an engine of high-skilled employment and digital transformation in Catalonia and beyond.
