Description

Infineon Technologies, a German semiconductor manufacturer, announced that its new plant, the Smart Power Fab, in Dresden (Sachsen) will open on 2 July 2026, creating roughly 1,000 jobs.

The expansion is driven by rising demand for chips used in renewable-energy systems, data-centre infrastructure and electric vehicles, and it also aims to supply the growing market for AI-related silicon, reflecting both the green transition and digitalization.

Infineon has invested a record €5 billion in the Dresden facility, about €1 billion of that coming from subsidies, positioning the new plant to support its growth in power-electronics solutions for green and digital markets. Infineon employs about 54,000 people worldwide.
