Description
Heineken, a Dutch beer brewer, announced that it will eliminate between 5 000 and 6 000 jobs in Europe over the next two years, affecting its employees in that region. The cuts are set to begin immediately and continue through 2026, as part of a broader effort to improve productivity.
The company cites a combination of declining global beer sales, persistent inflation, rising wage and energy costs, and the need to simplify its worldwide organisation as the main drivers of the restructuring. Digitalisation of supply chain processes and the increased use of artificial intelligence in marketing are also part of the modernisation plan.
Furthermore, the chairman of the board emphasises that Heineken will try to carry out any dismissals in a responsible and transparent way.
Heineken employs roughly 87 000 people worldwide. While the company operates breweries and production sites in multiple regions, the announced job cuts will be concentrated in Europe.
