European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The Lithuanian branch of Denmark-based Danske Bank cutting 114 jobs, which is about 2% of the jobs created in Lithuania. The organisational changes at Danske Bank are driven by the intensive automation and digitalisation of previously manual activities and the consolidation of certain functions. In addition, several major projects that have been carried out within the company over the past few years have been completed, and significant investments in technology, data, and artificial intelligence are changing the competencies and team structures required for this.
This change will affect employees in Lithuania – daily banking operations specialists, analysts, and team leaders. In the coming weeks, efforts will be made to offer these employees alternative positions within the bank. Danske Bank currently has around 100 vacancies for internal candidates in Lithuania, and retaining talented colleagues remains one of its top priorities. If this solution is not possible, employees will be provided with professional assistance in finding new jobs on the market.
Lithuania is Danske Bank's second largest location, employing almost a quarter of the bank's total workforce. The bank is the third-largest private employer in Lithuania, with 4,790 employees. Danske Bank is cutting another 306 jobs in other countries, bringing the total to 420. The majority of these jobs are in Denmark and Lithuania.
