Description
Správa železnic, a Czech state company operating in the railway industry, has announced plans to lay off 121 employees by the end of 2026 as part of its restructuring efforts aimed at achieving significant cost savings. The organization plans to streamline its structure and enhance efficiency, with further layoffs anticipated in the future.
The layoffs will mainly affect administrative and managerial positions. The management of the organization will undergo a fundamental change. From April, the management structure will be simplified, expenses on marketing, IT and legal services will be reduced by 20 percent, and key activities will be centralised. For example, the current 21 operating districts will be merged under central dispatching offices in Prague and Přerov. The layoffs are not expected to affect employees who operate the railway itself.
The announced restructuring will bring annual savings of CZK 335.6 million (€ 13.8 million). The company currently employs about 17,000 people across the country.
