European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Majorel, an international service company specialising in customer experience services, has announced an employment redundancy plan (ERE) in Spain affecting 329 employees. According to the distribution provided by the company, the cuts would affect Salamanca (169 employees), Barcelona (67), Jerez de la Frontera (48), Zaragoza (30), and Madrid (15), making the Salamanca platform the most severely affected site.
Trade unions have described the proposed allocation as “socially irresponsible,” warning that such a concentration of job losses would have a serious economic and social impact in a city already characterised by limited stable employment opportunities. Unions have urged the company to reconsider the measure and explore alternatives. Unions also insist that Majorel must justify the alleged decline in workload with objective and verifiable data, as required by law.
The company did experience some restructring experiences in 2023 Majorel 2023-ES and 2024Majorel 2024-ES, with job losses of 223 and 133 jobs, respectively.
