European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Covalen, an Irish outsourcing firm providing content moderation, AI training and back-office services, has entered a consultation process regarding potential redundancies at its Dublin operations. The proposed job cuts, announced in late 2025, are expected to mainly affect AI annotator roles, alongside positions in quality control, management and support functions. The number of redundancies is approximately 300, less than some 400 which were initially announced in December 2025, due to the redeployment of around 100 employees. Covalen employs 2,000 people in Ireland, in Dublin and Limerick, and provides services such as content moderation and AI training for social media company, Meta. The Communications Workers’ Union (CWU) which represents employees in Covalen was in dispute with the company over the redundancy package on offer, with the company offering statutory redundancy payments only.
