Description
Sonnplast Solutions, an automotive supplier, is cutting 116 jobs at its site in Sonneberg, Thuringia.
Production will cease at the end of March or the beginning of April 2026. The job cuts result from insolvency proceedings, which ultimately failed to secure the future of the site. The company struggled with insufficient utilisation of its production facilities.
Negotiations with potential investors ultimately failed because they wanted to purchase the previously rented production facility due to the investments required for manufacturing. According to the insolvency administrator, no agreement on this could be reached with the landlord.
Sonnplast produces components made from thermoplastic materials for the automotive industry. This was already the company’s third insolvency proceeding, and with no investor willing to step in, the process ultimately led to the closure of the business.
