Description
Schaeffler, an automotive supplier, has announced plans to cut 74 jobs at its site in Ingolstadt, Germany.
The measures are scheduled to be implemented by the end of the first quarter of 2027. According to the company, the cuts are driven by an economically challenging environment and the discontinuation of a product that is no longer being manufactured in Ingolstadt.
After weeks of negotiations, the employer and the works council reached an agreement on a restructuring concept. The IG Metall union reports that the job cuts will be carried out in a socially responsible manner through a voluntary exit programme that includes severance packages and phased retirement options.
Once the job cuts are completed, the workforce at the Ingolstadt site will stand at around 250 employees, representing a reduction of roughly 50 percent since 2020.
Previous internal restructuring measures were recorded in the ERM database in 2024, with 2,800 job cuts Schaeffler 2024 - DE.
