Description
The car rental company Starcar filed for insolvency in October 2025. Around 600 employees are affected. The 170 employees who were still working at the company most recently are now also losing their jobs, as Starcar is being wound up in January 2026.
The insolvency is due to the significant challenges facing the car‑rental market in Germany. Since no new owner could be found, the Starcar Group is now being shut down.
The Starcar Group was founded in 1987 and operated across Europe. Its headquarters are located in Solingen, North Rhine‑Westphalia.
