Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Agora S.A., a major media group in Poland, announced a group-wide restructuring programme leading to up to 166 job losses across several subsidiaries and the parent company. On 19 January 2026, the group confirmed the launch of collective redundancies affecting up to 136 employees in Wyborcza, Gazeta.pl and Eurozet Consulting, while an additional up to 30 job cuts are planned in the parent company Agora S.A., Grupa Radiowa Agory and Eurozet sp. z o.o.,
The restructuring, scheduled between 20 January and 28 February 2026, is driven by the transformation of the group’s digital activities, which management considers inefficient in their current model, and will impact roles in editorial, sales, business support, and operational support.
The layoffs were negotiated and agreed with trade unions, with consultations also involving works councils in some entities.
Agora, listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 1999, is one of Poland’s leading media groups, operating Gazeta Wyborcza, Gazeta.pl, radio stations, outdoor advertising, and cinemas, and has undergone several restructuring rounds in recent years amid ongoing market and digital transformation pressures. The group also carried out workforce restructuring in 2024, see: Agora 2024 -PL
