Description
German automotive supplier Durkopp has announced plans to cut 180 jobs at its Halle (North Rhine-Westphalia) site. Back in September, estimates ranged from 200 to 550 potential layoffs, so the latest figure marks a smaller reduction than initially feared.
Both IG Metall and the works council welcomed the scaled-down job cuts. According to Durkopp, the restructuring is aimed at positioning the site for long-term stability and competitiveness.
The company also plans to implement further system and process adjustments to get operations back on track. A transfer company will be set up to support affected employees, and severance packages have been agreed upon.
