Description
Stainless steel producing company Outokumpu is laying off 139 employees in Finland by the end of 2027. The company commenced cooperation negotiations concerning its operations in Finland, Sweden and Germany in early October 2025.
The negotiations were part of a restructuring program aimed at saving the company EUR 100 million in costs. Job losses will affect all three countries, with approximately 650 full-time positions in total by the end of 2027. Of these 650, about 450 were subject to negotiations, as reported in October Outokumpu 2025 - European Union.
Outokumpu has approximately 8,400 employees worldwide. The total number of employees only in Finland is unknown, but the Tornio plants and Elijärvi mine employ around 2,000 workers.
