Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The German automotive equipment manufacturer specializing in the production of condensers for automotive air-conditioning systems has announced the closure of its Hambach plant in Moselle next summer. This decision will result in the elimination of nearly 186 jobs. closure is scheduled for summer 2026, with the first dismissals expected from March 2026, and a small support team remaining until the end of 2026 for dismantling and transfer of machinery to Poland and Czechia.
The plant had been facing difficulties due to declining orders and the end of business with is main customers. The closure is a major blow to employment in the metallurgy sector of the department.
