European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
As announced on 2 December 2025, media company RTL Deutschland has announced plans to cut 600 jobs in Germany. The job reductions are attributed to changes in the media market and declining advertising revenues. The company intends to focus even more on its streaming services in the future.
The company aims to make the cuts as socially responsible as possible and avoid layoffs wherever possible. Planned measures include early retirement schemes and severance packages.
RTL Deutschland employs around 6,000 people, meaning one in ten positions would be affected.
