European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
As announced on 1 December 2025, machine manufacturer Heller plans to cut 224 jobs by April 2026 at its headquarters in Nürtingen. According to the company, the reason for the job cuts is the weakening automotive industry and declining demand. The company wants to focus more on general-purpose machinery, since they see a decline in orders of machinery personalised for clients' projects.
The company had already announced job cuts at the beginning of 2025, initially planning to reduce 240 positions. At that time, negotiations with employee representatives were still pending. These have now been concluded. It was agreed that a transfer company will be set up for 150 employees, while 74 positions will be eliminated through attrition or reduced working hours.
Heller employs around 2,000 people worldwide.
