European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Ericsson is a Swedish company specialized in telecommunications equipment. In late November, its French subsidiary announced a plan to cut 134 jobs, that is to say 10% of its 1000 workforce in France. The reduction will mostly affect the site in Massy (Essone), with a few positions also targeted in Lannion (Côtes-d'Armor). The decision is linked to a prolonged drop in telecom infrastructure investment, occurring after the 4G rollout was completed and demand for new networks decreased.
Negotiations were initiated with employee representatives during the announcement. The dismissals will be voluntary under the collective agreement. Ericsson employs around 1,000 people in France across two sites: Massy and Lannion.
Ericsson’s plan is separate from its global restructuring program, which involved 8,500 departures worldwide: Ericsson 2023 - FR. The latest restructuring in France was recorded in 2011: ST-Ericsson 2011 - FR.
