Description
AVL List, an Austrian technology and engineering company active in the automotive and mobility sector, has announced an additional 100 job cuts at its Graz operations, following an earlier decision in summer to reduce around 350 positions. The new measure affects employees across various technical and administrative units at the company’s main site.
The firm states that the extended restructuring is driven by revised planning assumptions for the 2026 business year, ongoing transformation processes within the mobility industry, persistent market volatility and significantly rising cost pressures. The job reductions will take place gradually, with dismissals expected to continue until January 2026.
The company plans to combine natural attrition, early-retirement schemes and part-time retirement arrangements with dismissals where necessary. A social plan and individual support measures will be offered, and indirect employment effects among suppliers cannot yet be ruled out.
Employee representatives have been informed and negotiations are ongoing, while management emphasises the need to safeguard long-term competitiveness and maintain stable employment in Graz despite the challenging market environment. Local unions have expressed concern about the scale of reductions but are involved in the consultation process.
AVL List is one of the largest independent automotive development companies worldwide, employing around 3,600 people at its Graz headquarters. The company has implemented several restructuring measures in recent years.
