As announed on 19 November 2025, steel company Schmidt+Clemens plans to cut 100 jobs at its Lindlar site (North Rhine-Westphalia).
The company is consolidating production lines and ending around-the-clock operations. The goal is to maintain competitiveness and improve efficiency.
A social plan has been negotiated with trade union IG Metall, which includes a transfer company for younger employees and early retirement options for older employees.
The Lindlar site employs 650 people, while the company has around 1,100 employees worldwide.
