Description
As announced on 23 July 2025, the automotive supplier Mahle had to cut 600 jobs in Germany between July 2024 and July 2025. The company is responding to declining sales and adjusting its capacities accordingly.
As a reason for this restructuring exercise, the company claims that the framework conditions for the automotive and supplier industries have further deteriorated. In 2023, an agreement was reached with the works council that excludes redundancies for operational reasons in Germany until the end of 2025.
While these layoffs were recently undertaken, Mahle’s CEO already announced that further job cuts will be necessary and follow (as recorded in the ERM events database Mahle 2025 - DE).
