Description
As announced on 9 November 2025, the German energy and environmental technology company Wehrle-Werk, based in Emmendingen, Baden-Württemberg, has filed for insolvency in August 2025, affecting 170 employees. The water treatment division, along with its 35 employees, will be taken over by a French investor. The plant-and-boiler-construction divisions will be discontinued.
The company cites several reasons for the insolvency: the loss of business in Russia, the cancellation of two major projects, internal issues during a software transition, and a hacker attack. Around 125 employees will be able to transfer to a transition company. Wehrle-Werk employs approximately 250 people. The company is to be fully wound up with the remaining employees.
