Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Krajská zdravotní, a Czech regional healthcare company managing seven hospitals in the Ústí nad Labem Region, plans to cut approximately 110 job positions as part of its efforts to address financial losses amounting to around CZK 200 million (€ 8.2 million) this year.
The restructuring will mainly affect non-medical and supporting staff, while some employees will be redeployed to other functions. The company also plans to merge non-healthcare departments and to minimise overtime, particularly among non-medical professions.
These measures are expected to bring savings of over CZK 20 million (€ 820 thousand) this year, and almost 57 million (€ 2.3 million) in 2026.
The regional health company, which is one of the largest healthcare providers in the Czech Republic and the largest employer in the Ústí nad Labem Region, currently employs 9,680 people.
