Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Florentaise, the French potting soil producer based in Saint-Mars-du-Désert, has announced 53 redundancies, including 26 positions from its head office. It currently employs 186 people. The first departures are scheduled for the end of May and will continue gradually until the end of the summer.
The group has been under receivership since 5 March 2025, following the accumulation of debts totalling €16.5 million. Unfavourable weather conditions in recent months have further strained its financial situation.
Alongside these redundancies, the restructuring of the company will require the creation of 12 new positions at three selected sites.
