Description
Fujikura Automotive Romania, the Romanian subsidiary of the Japanese manufacturer of automotive cables and wiring harnesses for the Volkswagen Group in Germany, will lay off 230 employees by the end of October 2025. The layoffs are scheduled to begin in October at Dej plant (Cluj County), but some employees have already been notified that they will lose their jobs. The company is scaling back its operations due to declining demand for the products manufactured in Dej.
The company is adjusting its capacity in the current socio-economic context, but production at the Dej site will continue with over 500 employees. The Volkswagen Group recently announced that it will suspend production at several plants in Germany due to low demand for cars. This mainly affects factories that produce fully electric vehicles.
The company has a workforce of 758 people in Romania.
