Description
GE Vernova, the energy division of General Electric group, has announced plans to cut 600 jobs across Europe, including 120 in France GE Vernova 2025-FR.
The layoffs mainly affect support functions such as human resources, project management, finance, and quality. The company will implement the restructuring through a collective termination agreement rather than a formal redundancy plan, aiming for a rapid process. French trade unions have criticised the decision, warning of heavy losses in shared services.
GE Vernova employs around 75,000 worldwide, including 25,000 people across Europe.

It is announced that GE Vernova plans to cut about 582 jobs across Europe, including 149 in France. The group is implementing the layoffs through a collective voluntary departure scheme rather than a traditional redundancy plan, aiming to complete the process by 6th November 2025. Employee representatives have criticised the speed of the process and the lack of long-term investment in French operations. Despite the layoffs, the company plans to create 200 new jobs across the region, of which 26 will be in France.
