Description
Burberry has announced 77 redundancies across Italy, including 11 positions at its Serravalle Scrivia outlet store. The dismissals affect approximately one-quarter of the 44 employees at the designer outlet location, creating significant concern among predominantly female staff members.
According to Filcams CGIL Alessandria, trade unions have mobilized to find alternative solutions and protect all jobs. Initial assemblies have been held with Serravalle employees, followed by individual worker meetings, with a national company discussion scheduled for early March.
Union representatives noted some openness from Burberry management during recent videoconference discussions with Ministry of Enterprise officials. However, unions unanimously reject the dismissal proposal and seek clarification on company criteria and which store departments might be most affected.
