Description
As announed on 1 September 2025, the German automotive supplier AE Group will close its sites in Gerstungen (Thuringia) and Nentershausen (Hesse) at the end of 2025. The closures will affect 683 employees, including 549 in Thuringia and 134 in Hesse.
The company had filed for insolvency under self-administration in August 2024 but was unable to find an investor. In March 2025, the site in Lübeck had already been closed, which was also recorded in the ERM database Alu Druckguss - GER. A reconciliation of interests has been agreed upon between the insolvency administrator, management, and the works council. Employees now affected can transfer to a transfer company, where they will receive up to six months of salary and support in finding new jobs. Training and further education will also be offered.
