Description
Coca-Cola's Sibeg plant in Catania faces potential job cuts affecting 200 workers due to the upcoming sugar tax implementation scheduled for July 1, 2025. The multinational beverage company has notified unions Flai, Cgil, and Uila about possible layoffs at the facility responsible for bottling the iconic soft drinks.
The warning comes amid ongoing uncertainty over the sugar tax, which has been repeatedly postponed by the Italian government. Industry association Assobibe, unions, and affected workers hope for another delay that would push implementation from July 2025 to January 2026
