Description
The Viega Group, a German manufacturer of sanitary and heating technology, is creating around 150 new jobs at the newly acquired production site in Kirkel (Saarland). Production of pipe connectors for the international market is set to start at the new site by the end of 2025.
The reason for the expansion of the production facilities is the increased demand for metal compression fittings and the shortage of skilled workers at existing sites. In the medium term, by 2030, Viega is planning an expansion including a continuous casting plant. In total, up to 400 jobs could be created in Kirkel.
Politicians and former site operators welcome the relocation as an important signal for the region and for strengthening Saarland as an industrial location.
Viega has ten locations worldwide and employs around 5,500 people.
