Description
Qemetica Soda, a soda producer, has started the process of hibernating the factory in Janikowo, resulting in the loss of up to 350 jobs.
The decision is due to high energy costs and the influx of cheaper soda from Turkey, which is also related to the crisis in the chemical sector in Europe. Plans call for the end of soda production by the end of July 2025, when up to 350 people employed at the plant will also lose their jobs.
Qemetica is the successor of ‘Janikosoda’, which was founded in 1957 and taken over by Ciech in 1996. It produces products such as soda ash and evaporated salt, which are used in various industries
