Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

The Finnish branch of the Austrian Andritz Oy, which manufactures machinery for the paper and pulp sectors, announced in March 2025 that they will undergo restructuring to save business operations in Finland. The company will reduce 170 staff across their entire Finnish operations, in Kotka, Vantaa, Tampere, Lappeenranta, Helsinki, Lahti, Varkaus, and Savonlinna, across which it employs about 1200 workers.
The reasons for the restructuring are the global economic insecurities, and a deteriorating investment climate for the paper and pulp industries, according to a company representative. The other subsidiary of Andritz Group in Finland, Andritz Works, will not be affected by the reduction of staff.
