Tronox, a global manufacturer of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) pigment, has announced the closure of its pigment production facility in Botlek, Rotterdam, affecting 240 employees. The decision was driven by an increasingly challenging business climate over the past two and a half years and strong competition from Chinese producers. The company estimates that the shutdown will cost up to $160 million, including $60 million in asset write-offs. However, it anticipates annual cost savings of up to $30 million starting next year.
