Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

Tronox, a global manufacturer of titanium dioxide (TiO₂) pigment, has announced the closure of its pigment production facility in Botlek, Rotterdam, affecting 240 employees. The decision was driven by an increasingly challenging business climate over the past two and a half years and strong competition from Chinese producers. The company estimates that the shutdown will cost up to $160 million, including $60 million in asset write-offs. However, it anticipates annual cost savings of up to $30 million starting next year. The closure is part of Tronox’s broader strategy to optimize operations and lower overall production costs. No information on alternative employment measures has been provided
