Description
The Finnish forest industry company UPM has initiated cooperation negotiations, planning to cut 107 job positions. The change negotiations concern UPM's Kaukaa paper mill in Lappeenranta, the Kymi paper mill in Kouvola, and the Rauma and Jämsänkoski paper mills.
At the Kymi paper mill in Kouvola, UPM intends to reduce 60 job positions and up to 45 dismissals. The change negotiations will affect the entire staff of UPM Kymi paper mill, i.e. 378 people. The change negotiations at the Kaukaa paper Mill Lappeenranta will also affect the entire paper mill workforce, 233 people. The negotiations could lead to the dismissal of 25 employees. At Rauma's paper mill, 18 job positions may be cut. At Jämsänkoski, the employment effects of the cooperation negotiations have not yet been publicly estimated.
In addition, temporary lay-offs are planned from autumn 2025, in at least Kymi and Kaukaa mills.
The cooperation negotiations are initiated due to the low market demand.
