Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

The DHL Group, an international logistics company based in Germany, is cutting 8,000 jobs in the Post and Package Germany division. The job cuts are to be carried out in a socially responsible manner and completed by the end of 2025.
The job cuts are part of the ‘Fit for Growth’ savings programme, which aims to reduce the cost base by over one billion euros. The reasons for this are increased costs, a decline in letter mail, and a challenging market environment. The reduction in jobs is mainly due to natural fluctuation.
The trade union Verdi has criticised the job cuts and is calling for political intervention. The General Works Council warns against further cuts.
The DHL Group employs 600,000 people worldwide.
