Description
PostNord Denmark will cease letter delivery from January 2026, following years of declining mail volumes and market liberalization. Of the 2,200 employees currently handling letters, 1,500 will be dismissed, while 700 will be reassigned to parcel operations. The Taastrup letter terminal will be closed, though additional affected locations have not been specified.
The Danish government has proposed a DKK 600 million compensation package, pending EU approval, to assist with the transition. The restructuring follows the 2024 postal reform, which removed PostNord’s exclusive service obligations and fully liberalized the market.
