Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

The battery manufacturer Ioncor has initiated cooperation negotiations which may result in the dismissal of 240 staff, out of which 170 in Finland. Production in both Salo and Uusikaupunki is comprised by the cooperation negotiations. Employees in Germany are also affected.
Ioncor states that the restructuring may result in temporary layoffs, dismissals, as well as changes in employment contracts and work content.
In 2024, Ioncor branched out from the car manufacturer Valmet Automotive and became its own company. Ioncor has approximately 1,000 employees.
