Description
The Tupperware factory located in Montalvo (Constância), has been declared insolvent.
This process will affect 200 workers.
The insolvency manager has assured the workers that they will be paid their compensation - a process that may take between eight months to twelve months.
The representative of the Manufacturing Industries Union (SITE CRSA) regretted the dismissal of 200 workers, the ‘uncertainty about the future’ and the ‘social problems’ involved.
The multinational Tupperware factory in Portugal, which had been in operation since 1980, depended 100% on its US headquarters, which was sold after it filed for bankruptcy in September 2024, and plans for the future do not seem to include Europe, since the company has revoked its licence to sell products in all European countries.
