Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

NANO Automotive SL, manufacturer of car parts and belonging to NANO Corporation, has officially informed its 120 employees of the immediate closure of its factory in Tudela (Navarre) due to a significant decline in customer demand. The company’s management has suggested that the legal procedures for liquidation will commence in accordance with bankruptcy law. Despite efforts to sustain operations, management has declared the plant unviable.
Meanwhile, employees’ representatives have criticised the company’s lack of communication and absence of leadership. They suggest that this situation comes after a gradual production halt since mid-January, with staff placed on temporary layoff schemes. The closure is part of a broader economic downturn in the Tudela area, which has seen a sharp decline in local businesses.
