Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

Eurohueco, a graphic arts company specialised in gravure printing for magazines, brochures and catalogues, has announced the closure of its printing plant in Castellbisbal, near Barcelona, and is currently negotiating an employment redundancy file (ERE) affecting the150 employees of the Castellbisbal plant. Eurohueco is owned by the British Walstead printing group since 2014.
The company stresses economic and production-related challenges, including declining sales and revenue, as the main reasons for this decision. Meanwhile, representative employees’ organisations have strongly opposed the move, urging the company to reconsider and highlighting the wider economic impact on the local community and industrial sector.
The second negotiation meeting took place on 29 January, with discussions set to continue throughout February.
